"Salvation in a Plastic Bag" made it all the way to quarter-finalist in the 4th quarter, 2004 Writers of the Future contest. Not too shabby considering the judges are folks like Robert J. Sawyer, Robert Silverberg, Kevin J. Anderson, Algis Budrys and K.D. Wentworth. Wowee!

Talis, Regan O'Connell's favorite dark elf, will beat her to print! "Salvation in a Plastic Bag," a story featuring Talis and Breas the vampire, will appear in Modern Magic: Tales of Fantasy and Horror, an anthology edited by William Horner III. This anthology, focusing on contemporary and urban fantasy is set to be published in Spring/Summer 2005. Stay tuned for more information.

Just got word that an excerpt and one-page synopsis of Improbable Child: The Music of Chaos was a finalist in the 2004 Southwest Writers Contest! Not the same as winning, but a small victory nonetheless. The reviewer/critiquer said my synopsis was excellent, which is a big ole ego booster.
